- Work in compliance with the Council’s legal duties in relation to data management and information governance, processing, and redacting requests for information on behalf of the Council.
- Review information as appropriate to determine what information can be shared with the requester and what information needs to be removed in accordance with legislation.
- Consult with the Senior Information Governance Officer, Council colleagues and other agencies and professionals as required to ensure any information to be provided is obtained, checked, redacted, and handled sensitively to protect the privacy of those concerned.
- Providing accurate advice, guidance, and empathetic support to requestors, ensuring this complies with the DPA, and supporting legislation.
- Notify the Senior Information Governance Officer of any data incidents or breaches as required to ensure Council processes are followed and the data subject can be notified.
- Previous experience as a Redaction Officer or similar is essential
- Ability to plan and manage your own workload, cope with changing priorities and use your initiative to consider problems
- Public sector experience is desired but not essential
- A standard DBS check will be required for this role at the cost of the successful applicant
