The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Mathematics Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality maths lessons to students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. This role requires someone who is innovative in their teaching approach, adaptable, and committed to making maths accessible and engaging for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging mathematics lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Assess students’ progress, provide feedback, and adapt teaching methods to support their learning journey.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and external agencies to create a holistic learning experience for students.
  • Support students’ personal development, fostering resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including participating in staff meetings, training, and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure that students achieve their potential in both academic and personal growth.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • A degree in Mathematics or a closely related field.
  • Experience working in a PRU, special school, or with students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs is desirable.
  • Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students who may be disaffected or disengaged.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A passion for inclusive education and the belief that every student can achieve.
  • Resilience, patience, and a sense of humour!
