Teaching Assistant

Location: Aylesbury, BuckinghamshireSchool: Co-Educational Secondary Special School for Pupils with Severe and Multiple Learning Difficulties (Ages 11-19)

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant . The school is a close-knit community school, providing high-quality education and support for approximately 100 students, with class sizes of 6-10 students, aged 11-19 with severe and multiple learning difficulties.

The curriculum is organised around key themes and gives students the opportunity to experience and explore different subjects. Central to this is the development of communication and functional skills relating to real life situations. Students also engage in a range of creative arts and explore aspects of personal, social, moral, and emotional education.

Students have access to a range of therapies, multi-agency professionals and specialist staff, including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and specialist teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach one full day per week, covering for the class teacher during their PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) time.
  • Support pupils in small groups and 1:1 settings to enhance their learning and development.
  • Assist in creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of our pupils.

  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable individual with a passion for supporting young people with severe and complex learning difficulties.
  • Experience working with children in a special educational needs (SEN) setting.
