Job Purpose:As a Senior Social Worker, you will assist the Team Manager in managing and supervising a team of multidisciplinary staff, including social workers and family workers. Your team will deliver statutory and targeted early help services to children and young people in need of support, protection, and care. You will also hold a caseload when required, delivering professional social work services to children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote the safety and well-being of children and young people.
  • Improve life chances and outcomes for children under the care of parents or other carers.
  • Lead and supervise Child and Family Workers, ensuring high standards and continuous service delivery.
  • Manage performance and assure quality of practice within the team.
  • Oversee casework, ensuring interventions with children and families lead to improved outcomes.
  • Ensure robust safety plans are in place for children identified as at risk.
  • Oversee the induction of new staff and contribute to the performance development and training of team members.
  • Provide social work services for children and young people in need of support and protection, ensuring that interventions meet their assessed needs.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary professionals to develop support and protection plans.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation and records, adhering to best practice and statutory guidelines.
  • Represent the local authority in court when required.
