Are you passionate about making a real difference in a child's life? Dunbar Education is excited to be working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Aylesbury, seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with special educational needs (SEN).

This is a rewarding role where you will provide tailored, one-on-one support to help the student thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a mainstream school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning activities
  • Implement and follow the child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child's development
  • Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment, promoting the child’s social and emotional well-being
  • Support the child in developing essential life skills, communication, and independence
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, contributing to review meetings with parents and professionals

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a 1:1 capacity with children who have SEN (such as Autism, ADHD, or Speech & Language difficulties)
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine desire to support children with additional needs
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and parents
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning (desirable but not essential)
  • A proactive attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
