This position is suitable for persons who have graduated with a relevant built environment degree and 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in surveying for similar property related industries.

As Major Works Surveyor you can expect to be working on the following:

  • Conducting site inspections for the purpose of detailed 10-year plan reports
  • Meeting with contractors to discuss projects of various types
  • Prepare specifications of works of various sizes and types but usually routine/cyclical repairs in nature and often resulting from the production of 10-year plans
  • Prepare tender packs for issue
  • Oversee tendering with contractors and conduct tender an
  • Regular pre-visit consultation with our internal Property Management team
  • Migrate information from 10 year plans into our maintenance management software (Fixflo)
  • Use of our site inspection software. (InventoryBase)
  • Liaising with stakeholders often via site walk arounds
  • Diagnose structural defects and advise on repairs
  • Diagnose causes of water ingress
  • Carry out Reinstatement Cost Assessments
  • Management of tendering contracts and Project Management
  • On site coaching and mentoring junior team members

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Have a good understanding of building pathology and is able to demonstrate such
  • Must have a qualification in building surveying, preferably a RICS accredited qualification or similar equivalent
  • Is able to present themselves well to colleagues, clients and residents of the AM portfolio
  • Is able to display good professional communication skills including verbally and written
  • Is able to structure ideas and methods of repairs/works concisely and clearly verbally and in written form
  • Be able to manage their workload and show good timekeeping and punctuality
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years surveying experience in a similar property role
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Building / Construction techniques
  • Ability to review information in detail, analyse and report concisely
  • Excellent technical knowledge in planned works
