As a SEMH Teaching Assistant in Baldock, you will be at the heart of this rewarding mission.
Role Overview:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant in the education and training sector, you will play a key role in assisting with the academic and personal development of students aged 4-19 with SEMH needs. The role involves supporting children in the classroom, helping them overcome challenges, and providing tailored support to meet individual needs.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a specialist SEN team and support students' academic and emotional development in Baldock.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a positive and creative way.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, working alongside teachers and other professionals.
- Encourage and motivate students, helping them to achieve their goals.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Support personal care where necessary.
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience supporting children and/or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable but not essential.
- A caring, empathetic individual with energy, drive, and enthusiasm.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with a flexible approach to supporting learning.
- A passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Patience, understanding, and a proactive attitude.
- A desire to be a positive role model and make a lasting impact in the lives of students.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (Level 2 or above) is desirable.
- A passion for supporting students with SEMH or SEND is essential.
