A specialized educational institution catering to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. About the role

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing environment, promoting positive behavior and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff and therapists to develop and implement personalized learning plans for students, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and developing appropriate coping strategies.
  • Assist in the delivery of engaging and interactive lessons, utilizing a range of teaching techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching staff and participating in progress reviews.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, specifically supporting individuals with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs is desired.
  • A compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students in their educational and emotional development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Knowledge of SEMH strategies and interventions, and the ability to apply them effectively in a classroom setting is desire.
  • Adaptability and resilience to work with students who may present challenging behavior.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
