Reed are seeking a dedicated Senior Health & Safety Officer to join the HSE department of a growing M&E business. This role involves providing general assistance and support to our Office, Site, and Fabrication Teams, ensuring that all practices are safe and environmentally compliant. The successful candidate will liaise with staff, principal contractors, clients, and partners to ensure adherence to correct policies.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide HSE advice and support to managers, supervisors, and colleagues across the company, including subcontracted labor and other site workers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels to promote a culture of engagement and continual improvement.
  • Create and maintain safe systems of work (e.g., RAMS) and ensure their effective application.
  • Conduct HSE site, workshop, and equipment inspections and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete incident investigations, identify improvement measures, and implement them.
  • Attend necessary meetings and deliver regular toolbox and induction talks.
  • Plan, review, and record emergency preparedness across all company locations.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and customers, representing the department and company positively.
  • Maintain high standards of work within the department and perform any other duties as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven HSE experience, preferably in new build and M&E construction environments.
  • Experience in conducting health and safety audits and creating RAMS for complex works.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and technical standards.
  • Accident and incident investigation experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and to achieve team targets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Desired Criteria:
  • Chartered membership of IOSH or working towards it.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or working towards it.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards (45001, 9001, 14001) and ISO internal auditing qualification.
  • Appointed Person Qualification.
  • Train the Trainer Qualification.
