We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to support our finance team. This role is crucial in maintaining financial order, offering financial insight and ensuring all financial operations within our Banbury location function smoothly.

Description

The Assistant Finance Manager will be responsible for the daily finance department functions on site, in particular processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as well as credit control. Liaising with and supporting the Group Finance function in the preparation of all reporting including management accounts, annual statutory accounts, VAT returns, balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow management. Ensuring the implementation of, and adherence to financial controls. Working with colleagues in other departments to support system administration routines and maintain accurate financial records. Duties will include:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable Inbox and process all purchase invoices daily and ensure approved in line with company policy from relevant department managers.
  • Complete supplier statement reconciliations and follow up on supplier and invoice queries.
  • Set up new suppliers on the system and accurately maintain supplier records.
  • Prepare payment runs in line with supplier terms for approval and adhoc payments set up on the bank system.
  • Reconcile the bank balances daily and provide a daily update on bank movements identifying and investigating unusual items.
  • Manage the Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) and invoice register report on a timely basis.
  • Run daily sales invoicing processes, ensuring sales invoices are raised in an accurate and timely manner and successfully processed by EDI where appropriate.
  • Perform sales invoice posting and accurately allocating cash receipts, on a daily basis.
  • Set up new customers on the system and accurately maintain customer records.
  • Sending customer statements of account and investigating and working with colleagues to resolve customer queries.
  • Reporting on Aged Debts to the local management team and Group Finance function.
  • Chasing overdue debts by email and telephone.
  • Putting overdue customer accounts on hold.
  • Support the implementation of any new finance systems.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register.
  • Ad hoc system administration support in order to maintain system accuracy and data integrity. Update and amend standing data as required.

Profile

A successful Assistant Finance Manager should have:

  • Previous experience in an all round accounting role.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
  • Superior attention to detail with an analytical mindset.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and MS Office.
  • Have a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to communicate and work with colleagues across functions and with head office.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
