Supplier Quality Assurance and NPI Engineer

Salary: £50-£55k DOE plus bonus and excellent benefits

Location: covering two sites - Banbury and High Wycombe

Role Overview:

As an Supplier Quality Engineer/SQA and NPI Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Engineering, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that supplier selection and ongoing performance meet the business needs. Your role will focus on supplier continuous improvement, working directly with suppliers to elevate their quality assurance processes and ensure compliance.

Supplier Quality Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Audits:Manage and conduct supplier audits worldwide to meet group business requirements.
  • Supplier Approval:Oversee the supplier approval process, assessing manufacturing capabilities, and health, safety, and environmental risks.
  • New Product Introduction:Manage the NPI process from RFQ and supplier selection to gaining customer approval, ensuring full product and process requirements are flowed down the supply chain.
  • Support Product Launches:Ensure suppliers can meet required quality standards during new product launches.
  • Documentation Management:Ensure all supplier documentation and certifications are relevant and up-to-date.
  • Supplier Performance:Support purchasing and supply chain teams with supplier performance and improvement/corrective action plans.
  • Quality Escalation:Act as the escalation point for engineering teams, holding suppliers accountable for quality issues.
  • Compliance Management:Oversee compliance and legislation requests, including conflict minerals and REACH.
  • Supplier Development:Identify and address deviations from quality standards in supplier development procedures.

Supplier Quality Engineer - Skills and Experience Profile:

  • Essential:
    • Proven experience in quality management system auditing (minimum ISO 9001; IATF 16949/AS 9100 is desirable).
    • Experience with PPAP and APQP.
    • Willingness and ability to travel for supplier auditing purposes (UK, EU, worldwide).
    • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
    • High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
    • Strong work ethic, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Advanced Excel and data management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different sites.
    • Self-motivated, organized, and systematic in achieving results.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Desirable:
    • Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications/experience.
