We are a managed service provider who have exclusively partnered up with an exciting Automotive company to handle their entire recruitment process as they search for a Motor Control Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. They manufacture revolutionary technology supporting the ever-growing advanced mobility sector out of their state-of-the-art facility. You will have the opportunity to work in a fantastic work environment with a company who are on their journey to revolutionise the automotive industry.


The successful Motor Control Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Specify, design and document control algorithms for motors such as axial permanent magnet motors
  • Modelling, analysis and simulation of motors and high voltage electric drives
  • Motor control algorithm design and implementation using model-based development tools
  • Control algorithm development for embedded control systems based upon requirements
  • Verification and validation of motor control algorithms including control algorithm calibration and testing in HIL, dynamometer and vehicle test environments
  • Support test teams to perform comprehensive motor and inverter characterisation to ensure desired system operation across the operating range
  • Integrate various sensors (rotor position, current etc.) within the motor control unit
  • Liaise and work with a multi-disciplinary team to support development and integration of various subsystems
  • Maintain understanding of new technologies, methods and products

The Motor Control Engineer will ideally have the following skills or experience:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in motor control principles such as FOC, flux weakening, over modulation etc.
  • Strong understanding of three phase power switching topologies
  • Modelling and simulation of electric drives in Matlab/Simulink/PSIM
  • Hands on experience working in high voltage and high-power testing environments is desirable
  • Experience with laboratory test equipment: Spectrum Analyser, Signal Analyser, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope and DVM
  • Familiar with PCB schematic capture and mixed signal circuit design. Experience with Altium Designer preferable
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
