Based:              Oxfordshire  

4 days a week based from home and 1 day a week in the office with regular travel across your patch of Oxfordshire

Contract:        Temporary to permanent contract

Rate:                  £18 – 21 per hour (dependant on experience)

Salary:              FTE salary 25,250 - £30,000

Start Date:      ASAP – April/ May 2025

Our client, an innovative and forward-thinking National Charity, are looking to recruit 2 Young Person’s Substance Misuse Practitioners to join their excellent Pan-Oxfordshire Service.

What does the service do?

The service works with children and young people aged 8 – 25 who are abusing substances and provides tailored interventions dependant on the young person’s needs.

These can range from brief interventions and educational support through to more targeted and comprehensive work support young people around multiple addictions and with complex and additional needs.

What will you be doing?

You will be providing specialist information, support and guidance around substance misuse issues, supporting young people with harm minimalization, safety and risk management, impulse control, coping strategies and accessing additional services.

You will be working closely with a range of partners and stakeholders including parents/ carers, Social Services, Child Exploitation Units, the Police, Youth Justice, CAMHS and Family Support and will be ensuring the child’s voice is heard and their safety and well being remains paramount.

You will be holding a caseload of between 30 – 40 young people with varying support needs and will be supporting them in schools and the community through 121 key working sessions.

You will be responsible for delivering sessions in schools and for attending various community events to raise awareness and provide education and information around substance misuse, it’s impacts and educational sessions on the effects of different drugs and alcohol.

What are they looking for?

  • Experience of working with clients affected by Substance Misuse and a knowledge of substances used by young people (so called “recreational drugs”)
  • Experience of working with children and young people (specifically aged 13 and above) and of engaging hard to reach young people
  • Ability to work creatively and adapt your style and approach to achieve the best from each young person
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of safeguarding and risk management
  • Driver essential and must have access to a car
