A leading automotive manufacturing company is looking for a skilled Paint Robot Maintenance Technician to join its Paint Operations team in Banbury. This role is vital in maintaining the smooth operation of automated paint processes, ensuring that equipment runs effectively to support safety, quality, and production goals.
Role Overview
As a Paint Robot Maintenance Technician, you will provide maintenance and technical support to paint operations, addressing equipment and plant issues to help meet departmental targets. This hands-on role requires a proactive approach to maintaining high safety, quality, timing, and cost standards. You will be a key contributor to enhancing uptime and efficiency through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting installation projects for new technology and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, ensuring adherence to IATF 16949 standards.
- Actively participate in accident investigations, near-miss reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct safe system of work practices, including the Lock Out Tag Out procedure where applicable.
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace and ensure team adherence to PPE standards.
- Ensure rapid response to equipment issues to maintain Right First Time (RFT) standards.
- Participate in problem-solving initiatives (8D, A3) and contribute to risk management.
- Adhere to standardised procedures and perform regular equipment checks, escalating issues as needed.
- Use the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system, suggesting improvements for maintenance performance.
- Lead and support equipment repairs, responding quickly to any breakdowns affecting productivity.
- Maintain an organised spare parts inventory and support equipment installations for new technologies.
- Cost Control
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at cost reductions, safety, and efficiency.
- Participate in company initiatives to reduce energy consumption and minimise waste.
- Foster a collaborative, professional environment aligned with the company's Employee Charter and Fairness Committee.
- Participate in training, development programs, and share knowledge to upskill the wider team.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified technician with a mechanical/electrical apprenticeship, a solid understanding of fluid flow schematics, and experience in robotic paint systems (B+M, Fanuc). Candidates should have a safety-oriented mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and be comfortable working independently while coordinating with other departments. Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems (CMMS) is highly desirable.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Mechanical/electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of bell applicators, spray guns, and B+M robotic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems using fluid flow schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of MAFACT processes (internal training provided).
- IOSH certification and experience with CMMS are advantageous.
