SEN Teaching Assistant – Aspiring Occupational Therapist - Education & TrainingKey Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to children with SEN, particularly those with physical, sensory, and motor difficulties.
  • Assist in implementing occupational therapy programs under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist.
  • Support classroom teachers in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Help students develop their fine motor skills, coordination, and sensory processing abilities through focused interventions and activities.
  • Track progress and provide feedback to the teaching team and therapists to ensure continued support for the students.
  • Foster a caring and encouraging environment for students, building trust and confidence.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • A keen interest in pursuing a career as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Previous experience working with children, especially those with SEN, is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage with children in a positive and supportive way.
  • Team player with the ability to adapt to the unique needs of each child.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow professionally in the field of SEN and occupational therapy.
Desirable:
  • A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Understanding of SEN and sensory or motor skill development is a plus.
