As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining factory equipment and assembly processes while ensuring product quality through regular monitoring and documentation in strict compliance with protocols. Your role will focus on maximizing the efficiency of machinery and equipment by reducing downtime and supporting the smooth operation of the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system.

Salary - Up to £40,000 depending on experience

Shifts - Three Shifts-Days (6am-2pm), Nights (10pm-6am) and Afternoons (2pm-10pm)

Main Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient production by maintaining assets, upholding technical capabilities, and complying with both regulatory and company requirements.
  • Guarantee that products are manufactured to specification and free from defects
  • Perform equipment setup, operation, adjustments, and minor preventative maintenance to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Conduct tests on assemblies and equipment to verify safety and productivity before they enter production.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues during testing, implementing solutions where possible or escalating to senior staff if needed.
  • Set up and operate various machines, monitor automated manufacturing processes, and oversee output to ensure consistency.
  • Work on and monitor assembly stations to ensure smooth operation.
  • Maintain precise and clear documentation to demonstrate compliance with internal and external quality regulations.
  • Perform regular equipment inspections, cleaning, servicing, and preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs for machines and processes, ensuring proficiency in documentation software.
  • Provide regular productivity and incident reports in case of any accidents or malfunctions.
  • Monitor and control processes using visual inspection, process data, and online testing methods.

Skills and Attributes

  • A qualified engineer with hands-on experience and a minimum HNC/HND certification in an engineering discipline is required.
  • A highly skilled problem solver with a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • A confident decision-maker who considers the commercial impact of their choices and ensures optimal outcomes.
