We are working with a growing accountancy practice based in Barking, East London, serving small businesses and sole traders across the UK. Their focus is on providing top-quality tax compliance and advisory services to help clients thrive.

As they expand, we are looking for a Client Relationship Manager to join the team. This is an ideal role for someone with a strong background in sales, business development, or client relationship management, who is eager to step into the world of accountancy. You will be trained on the fundamentals of tax compliance for small businesses and sole traders, allowing you to develop the skills needed to advise clients with confidence.

What You’ll Do:

  • First Point of Contact: You will handle initial consultations, provide basic tax compliance guidance (once trained), and present quotes to potential clients.

  • Client Onboarding: Manage the onboarding process for new clients, ensuring a smooth transition into our services.

  • Sales & Client Management: You will manage a high volume of inbound client enquiries, working to convert leads into clients. After onboarding, you’ll maintain client relationships and ensure ongoing support.

  • No Bookkeeping or Filing: This is a client-facing role focused on relationship management, not administrative tasks. Bookkeeping, VAT filing, and other technical work will be handled by our accounting team.

  • Basic Tax Compliance: Over time, you’ll gain the necessary skills to provide small business tax advice with our support and training.

  • Sales Pipeline Management: You will manage your own sales pipeline, track client enquiries, and follow up diligently to drive conversions.

The Clients:

You’ll be working with a wide range of small businesses and sole traders, including clients in industries like retail, hospitality, e-commerce, consulting, and trades.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Sales or BDM Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a sales, business development, or client relationship role, ideally in professional services such as accountancy, insurance, IT, legal services, or consultancy.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: You should be a clear, friendly communicator with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.

  • Willingness to Learn: We provide training in small business tax compliance. You’ll need a keen interest in learning how accounting services can benefit small businesses and sole traders.

  • Self-Starter: You should be able to independently manage your workload, handle high volumes of enquiries, and follow up diligently with leads.

  • Client-Focused: Passion for helping small businesses and supporting their growth.

Compensation Package:

  • Base Salary: £30,000 per annum.

  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): Earn up to £10,000 in comms & bonuses in your first year, with achievable monthly/quarterly performance targets.

  • Work Flexibility: While this role is office-based in Barking, we offer flexibility for remote working once fully onboarded and trained.

  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
