Behaviour Mentor Required for Primary School in Barking and Dagenham

  • Full time 8:30am-3:30pm Monday to Friday

About the role:

This primary school are seeking educators to work with a child in Year 2 with Autism . The student is non-verbal and displays very challenging behaviour. They are looking for someone with knowledge of PECS and willingness to do personal care.

Your Role:

  • Supporting an ASC child on a 121 basis
  • Ability to use PECS to communicate with non-verbal children
  • Willingness to do personal care (toileting/nappy changing)
  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents

The ideal candidate:

  • Outgoing and mentoring manner
  • Previous experience working with non-verbal children using PECS
  • Ability to work with children known for very challenging behaviour outbursts
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their full potential
  • You will be expected to think on your feet and be proactive, no day is the same in a school, so being prepared is vital.
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
