Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Exams Officer to join our secondary school in Barking with an immediate start. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, organisation, and smooth running of all internal and external examinations within the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examinations Administration: Coordinate and manage all aspects of the examination process, including registration, timetable planning, and room allocation.

  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure that all examinations comply with the guidelines set by awarding bodies (e.g., JCQ) and the school’s policies.

  • Exam Entry Management: Liaise with heads of departments and external exam boards to register students for exams and ensure accuracy in entries.

  • Timetable and Invigilation Coordination: Prepare and distribute exam timetables, and recruit, train, and manage a team of invigilators.

  • Exam Day Management: Supervise the setup and running of exams, ensuring adherence to protocols, security, and the proper handling of exam scripts.

  • Results Processing: Oversee the receipt and distribution of examination results, including liaising with senior staff regarding analysis and appeals.

  • Special Arrangements: Organise access arrangements for students with special educational needs (SEN) and ensure appropriate support is in place.

  • Communication: Act as the key point of contact for students, staff, parents, and exam boards regarding all examination-related queries.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of exam entries, results, and correspondence with exam boards.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Experience in examination administration, preferably in an educational setting.

  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Competency in IT, including Microsoft Office and exam management software.

  • Understanding of examination regulations and procedures.
