An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a special needs school in Barking and Dagenham, supporting children and young people with additional needs. This nurturing environment provides highly personalised support, focusing on developing life skills and independence for each student.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering specialist occupational therapy interventions, working closely with teaching staff, support teams, and external professionals to help students build confidence, independence, and functional abilities. The role will involve 1:1 and small-group therapy, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:-
Assess and deliver individualised occupational therapy interventions through 1:1 and small-group sessions.

Develop and implement strategies to improve fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.

Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to integrate therapy into students' daily routines and educational programmes.

Contribute to and review EHCP targets, ensuring that therapy aligns with each student’s needs and progress.

Provide training and guidance to staff, helping them implement occupational therapy strategies in the classroom.

Create a supportive, inclusive atmosphere, empowering students to build their confidence and gain practical life skills.

A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification (Degree or MSc in OT).

HCPC registration (essential).

Experience working with children and young people with SEND, ideally in a special needs school setting.

A strong understanding of sensory integration, motor development, and assistive technology.
