Higher Level Teaching Assistant | Barking and Dagenham (RM10) | £110-130 per day | Long Term to Permanent | ASAP Start

LTF Recruitment is excited to be working with a large primary school in Barking and Dagenham, seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) specialising in Physical Education to join their team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering high-quality PE lessons and supporting the overall physical development of students. Responsibilities will include assisting the PE teacher, managing sports equipment, organising activities, and promoting a positive and active learning environment. A solid understanding of the primary PE curriculum and strategies to support students with diverse needs is essential for success in this role.

The Right Candidate:

  • Holds a relevant degree or HLTA qualification, preferably with a focus on Physical Education.
  • Has at least 1 year of experience in an educational setting, ideally within PE or sports-related roles.
  • Possesses strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for PE.
  • Has experience working 1:1 with students, particularly in facilitating sports activities.
  • Can effectively build relationships with children and promote teamwork and sportsmanship.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for sports and a commitment to encouraging physical activity among students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the PE teacher in planning and delivering engaging and age-appropriate PE lessons.
  • Support students during sports activities, ensuring safety and adherence to rules.
  • Manage and maintain sports equipment, ensuring all materials are ready and in good condition for lessons.
  • Organise and lead extracurricular sports activities and events.
  • Provide personalised support to students with special educational needs, adapting activities to meet their individual requirements.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment that encourages all students to participate and enjoy physical activities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress in physical education, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to integrate physical education with other areas of the curriculum.
