Housing and Allocations OfficerLocation: Hybrid (Barking/Home)Salary: £30 p/h

Are you an experienced Housing and Allocations professional looking for an exciting new challenge? We are seeking a proactive Housing and Allocations Officer to play a crucial role in delivering a high-quality allocations and tenancy management service within a growing and evolving housing organisation.

About the Role

As part of a specialist team, you will support a large-scale project delivering new lettings across an affordable rent portfolio. This role is key in ensuring properties are let efficiently while maintaining high customer satisfaction and compliance with all housing policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a high-quality allocations and tenancy management service.
  • Ensure timely turnaround of empty properties, meeting key KPI targets.
  • Prevent tenancy fraud and manage onboarding of new tenants.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies and internal teams for seamless service delivery.
  • Take appropriate action on tenancy issues, including sub-letting and non-occupation.
  • Maintain and update relevant housing systems and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures while meeting performance targets.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • Experience in tenancy management and housing allocations.
  • Strong knowledge of housing regulations in a mixed-tenure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • High level of IT literacy, including Word, Excel, and housing management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively manage a caseload.

Desirable:

  • Experience in project management.
  • Working knowledge of external letting agents or managing agents.
