Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant with behaviour management experience
TimePlan Education are recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to join an SEND school in Barnet, North London. This role includes getting the classroom ready for lessons, running reading and writing interventions, supporting teachers in managing classroom behaviour, supervising group activities and looking after children who are upset or have had accidents.
The school is a secondary PMLD and SEMH school in Barnet which is known for its dynamic team and supportive SLT. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop in their role very quickly and they will receive continues training.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
- Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
- Support pupils to access learning activities as directed by the teacher and in line with their individual learning plans or targets
- Assist with personal care if needed.
- Support pupils to access the curriculum including, in particular, reading and ICT
- Prepare and maintain equipment and resources as directed by the teacher and assist pupils in their use

Job Requirements
- Experience in supporting children or young adults with SEND is desirable but is not essential.
- Calm and empathetic.
- Good behaviour management.
- Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
- Available 5 days a week and able to commit to at least 2-6 months.
