If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an SEN school in Enfield.
As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will be responsible for supporting SEN pupils, both on a 1:1 basis and within the general classroom. The role will provide an opportunity to assist students in their academic and personal development, helping them reach their full potential. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a vibrant school environment and to make a real difference in the lives of students.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to SEN pupils to meet their individual learning needs.
- Assist with general classroom support, ensuring students remain engaged and focused during lessons.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to implement tailored teaching strategies for SEN students.
- Support small group activities, assisting students in completing tasks and activities under the guidance of the teacher.
- Help students with social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Aid in the preparation of classroom materials and resources to support SEN students’ learning.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive and inclusive environment.
- Contribute to the monitoring and assessment of student progress, providing feedback to teachers.
- Provide support with physical tasks for students with mobility or sensory impairments, as required.
- Assist students with personal care needs, including nappy changing, if needed.
TA Requirements:
- Previous Teaching Assistant (TA) experience, ideally within SEN or a similar support role.
- A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
- Strong understanding of SEN and the ability to provide individualised support.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with students.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive and flexible attitude with the ability to adapt to different classroom situations.
- An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, or the willingness to apply for one.
