Role and Responsibilities

As a Product Design Engineer, you will:

  • Report to the Design and Technical Manager at the Northern Home Counties office.
  • Lead concept development from initial brief to manufacture across multiple projects.
  • Present product ideas clearly for brainstorming sessions and signoff.
  • Create and amend parts and drawings to meet design specifications.
  • Collaborate with local manufacturing partners to deliver products on time and within budget.
  • Produce assembly drawings for in-house assembly teams.
  • Ensure Product Technical Files are completed for certification submissions.
  • Support product launches by producing specification sheets, installation guides, and online content.
  • Process product environmental declarations when needed.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Product Design or an Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a designer in the lighting industry (essential).
  • Expertise in manufacturing methods, including die-casting, injection molding, extrusions, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, KeyShot, and Adobe Creative Suite.
