About the Role:Are you passionate about empowering young people to reach their potential? We are seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to support students in secondary and alternative education settings across Haringey, Enfield, Barnet, and Brent. In this role, you will work closely with young people who face challenges in mainstream education, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed for a brighter future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group mentoring, guiding young people in setting and achieving personal and educational goals.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to foster self-esteem and encourage positive behavior.
  • Implement strategies to help students manage social and emotional challenges, including conflict resolution, self-regulation, and stress management.
  • Collaborate with teachers, behavior mentors, and other support staff to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in activities such as sports, arts, and community engagement projects to inspire students and promote personal growth.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with young people in an educational or youth support role, particularly in SEMH, SEN, or alternative education settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with young people and understand their unique challenges.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students through personal and behavioral challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in youth mentoring, counseling, or behavioral management (e.g., Team Teach, Youth Work certification) are a plus.
