Financial Controller

Burnley, Lancashire BB18

£70,000 - £75,000 per annum

Permanent full-time office based role working 40hrs per week – flexible on start and finish times

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to support their client based in the Burnley area.

The Role

Responsible for the integrity of the accounting system and financial reports.  Lead the financial staff at the plant and be accountable for plant level responsibilities, including general accounting business analysis, and financial reporting.  Although not responsible for the banking, payables, order entry, billing and inventory management departments, take responsibility for how these areas impact the Company’s financial reporting.  Reports to the Vice President of Finance & Treasury in regards to all financial and accounting activities

Duties

  • Oversee all company accounts
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends and financial forecasts
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Manage financial department staff providing motivation and helpful feedback where required
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported
  • Maintain compliance with government financial regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Interface with external accountants on quarterly and annual reports
  • Work with external tax accountants on preparation of tax provision and annual tax returns
  • Develop budgets and financial plans
  • Review all financial plans and budgets and provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets vs actual results.  Regularly look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
  • Review internal controls procedures in the plant and improve areas of weakness
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection calculations
  • Reports to VP with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist the VP in presenting reports to management board
  • Be an effective developer of solution to business challenges
  • Provide comments on new contracts into which the company may enter

Person Specification

  • A degree in accounting, business, economics, finance or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in a business or finance environment
  • Management experience
  • Understanding of UK GAAP (IFRA a plus) and cost accounting
