Barnsley Council are seeking a Service Development and Support Officer to monitor and enhance the performance of our Early Start and Families service. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems, including complex data analysis and undertaking audits, to ensure effective functioning and monitoring of the service.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Develop, maintain, and analyse bespoke systems and databases using key statistics and performance measures.
  • Liaise with software providers to implement reporting requirements in line with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct visits to verify performance and provide targeted general and specialist support.
  • Populate data for the Self Evaluation Framework (SEF) to meet statutory and legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for data collection, analysis, and information sharing.
  • Produce comprehensive statistical reports, manipulating data and utilising analytical tools to present information to managers and stakeholders.
  • Support the service with financial and activity-related monitoring information for reports and presentations.
  • Assist with financial planning, monitoring, procurement systems, and processes.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to maintain communication links and undertake audits to prevent misuse of funds and information.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops, training, and information sessions, possibly delivering training sessions.
  • Interrogate corporate systems to support the caseload allocation panel for staff and vulnerable families’ safety and wellbeing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Level 4 qualification in administration or finance (Desirable)
  • AAT Level 2 Accounting (A/D D) is desirable.
  • Experience in planning and delivering workshops, information sessions, and training events
  • Proven experience in budget and project management
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, target-based environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant information systems and IT packages
  • High level of numeracy and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload, handle sensitive information, and maintain effective working relationships
  • Willingness to work flexibly and undertake travel as required for the role
