Position: Contracts Supervisor - Road Haulage

Location: Barnsley

Hours: 7am start - 40 hour week

Salary: 45,000 DEO

Our client is seeking an experienced Contracts Supervisor to oversee a major contract of theirs based in Barnsley. This role will suit an experienced Contracts Supervisor who has a solid Transport and Haulage background. You will be required to oversee the operation, financial performance, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and driver retention, all the while upholding their company values, policies and procedures to the strictest health and safety regulations.

Your key responsibilities as a Contracts Supervisor - Road haulage:

• Overseeing 40-50 drivers
• Interfacing between the client and transport team
• Efficiently manage any service delivery concerns and failures, protecting the company/client relationships; full and immediate use of the TMS to record all exceptions
• Monitor performance metrics and implement strategies for improvement
• Ensuring all staff are sufficiently inducted and trained
• Provide support and guidance to the transport team regarding contract management and operational issues
• Liaising with customers and colleagues to ensure the operation runs smoothly and cost-effectively
• Promote a 'customer first' approach and fully understand the customers' requirements and quality standards
• Ensure micro-management of all costs including (but not limited to), vehicle and trailer costs, drivers hours, vehicle and equipment damage, insurance and fuel. Minimise vehicle empty running costs by working with the transport teams across the UK, utilising return load websites
• KPI reporting and budget reports required by senior management

Requirements:

• Proven experience in transport and haulage management
• Proven experience in contracts supervision
• Strong understanding of UK Transport regulations
• Proficient in contract management software
• String analytical and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of O Licence obligations
• The ability to exercise good leadership and people management skills
