Customer Service Advisor

We are excited to offer an opportunity for two proactive Customer Service Advisors to join our team in Barnsley. This role is crucial in supporting a local initiative to encourage and assist residents in applying for Pension Credit. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about community service and comfortable working both in the office and in the field.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Host drop-in sessions at various locations across Barnsley, involving personal travel to each location.
  • Engage proactively with members of the public to inform and assist them with Pension Credit claims.
  • Use IT software to check eligibility and provide general advice on completing and submitting Pension Credit forms.
  • Manage bookings for Benefit Advisors and support the wider team with activities related to the Pension Credit initiative.
  • Respond to customer enquiries through multiple channels including telephony, face-to-face, email, web chat, and social media.
  • Handle complaints and difficult or aggressive customers in a calm and professional manner.
  • Promote and support customer independence through the use of self-service channels.
  • Undertake general financial administration tasks such as processing requests for service and taking payments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the public and providing advice, support, and guidance.
  • Proficient in using various communication channels and electronically recording information.
  • Capable of handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage stressful situations calmly.
