Are You an Ambitious Early Career Teacher Ready to Inspire Year 7 Students?

GSL Education are looking for a motivated and passionate Early Career Teacher (ECT) to teach Year 7 in Barnsley. This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to gain valuable experience in a supportive school environment, with the option to start immediately or in the Easter term 2025.

As an ECT for Year 7, you will play a vital role in supporting students transitioning from primary to secondary education. You will deliver engaging and structured lessons, helping students build confidence in their learning while developing essential academic and social skills. This role is open to Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have completed their training placements and are ready to begin their teaching journey.

Key Responsibilities of ECT:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to the needs of Year 7 students.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to participate.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support student progress.
  • Use assessment strategies to monitor student development and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with school staff and senior mentors as part of your ECT induction program.
  • Maintain effective classroom management, ensuring a positive and productive learning atmosphere.

Requirements of ECT:

  • A passion for teaching and inspiring young learners.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage Year 7 students.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to learn from experienced mentors.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.

Mandatory information:

  • The successful candidate must hold PGCE in the relevant subject with Qualified Teaching Status (QTS), or equivalent certification.
  • Be able to provide a ten-year career history with relevant reference details covering the last two years, including your most recent place of academic employment.
