Location: Barnsley

Pay: £12.60 - £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday with overtime and weekend availability.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled 360 Material Handler/Excavator Operator to join a dynamic team within the metal processing industry. This full-time, permanent position involves handling various materials, including metal scrap and alloys, using a 360-degree excavator. The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating a 360 excavator, preferably in a metal or processing environment, though training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to grow within a fast-paced industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a 360-degree material handler/excavator to move, sort, and load materials such as metal scrap, alloys, and turnings.
  • Assist in the efficient processing of materials, ensuring they are properly segregated and handled according to quality and contamination standards.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure smooth workflow and material handling in the processing area.
  • Identify any metal contamination in materials and report any issues that may affect production.
  • Maintain the equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and performing basic safety checks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid 360-degree material handler/excavator license (preferred).
  • Previous experience operating a 360 excavator, particularly in a metal or recycling environment, is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety protocols when handling materials.
  • Good organizational, communication, and IT skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team.
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns, including nights (shift premiums apply).
