The role:

FLT Driver - Counterbalance

Are you an FLT Driver that has worked in Manufacturing and looking for a new challenge?

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an FLT Driver to join a well-known Manufacturing business based in Barnsley, very close to Wakefield. The role will allow you to be part of a great team carrying out FLT Driving duties within a fast-paced Manufacturing business.

Working Hours: 2 shifts (Mornings & Afternoons) Hourly Rate: £13.03 p/h + 12.5% Shift Allowance = £14.65p/h - including Shift Allowance with the potential to increase after skills matrix training

  • Unlimited Overtime: Paid at time ½ after 40 hours Monday – Saturday and double time on Sunday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport material to and from designated areas in the facility
  • Loading and unloading goods from vehicles
  • Moving goods and materials packed on pallets around the facility
  • Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
  • Checking loads are secure
  • Recording all stock movements on internal systems (PC/RDT), keeping stock accurate
  • Keeping stock in an organised manner throughout the storage areas and general housekeeping duties
  • Stacking empty pallets
  • Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment
  • Taking scrap and waste materials to the skip
  • Always operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner

Skills & Experience:

  • Must hold and accredited FLT Counterbalance Certificate (up to 3 years old)
  • Experience of operating in a busy manufacturing and warehouse environment
  • Experience in using a PC/RDT stock system
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
  • Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
  • Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
  • Maintain a clean & safe environment
  • Positive, proactive, ‘can do’ attitude
  • Professional approach
  • Ability to count stock
