TeacherActive are looking for SEMH TA / SEN Teaching Assistant in Barnsley to have the opportunity to work in a specialist school that caters for young people who have cognitive, learning, communication, interaction and sensory needs. As a teaching assistant your responsibilities will include assisting the teacher with lessons, working 1:1 with SEN students who have complex needs and creating a calm and purposeful learning environment. We build great relationships with our schools and support staff so we can find the best placements for you. We are looking for SEMH TA / SEN Teaching Assistant to cover day to day, short-term and long-term placements supporting children with their education. The ideal SEMH TA / SEN Teaching Assistant should have the following:

  • Level 2/ 3 in a relevant qualification and/or experience in a care, support work or school environment
  • Good communication skills
  • A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
  • Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
