Join our growing Programme Office in Barnsley, dedicated to managing, driving, and supporting the delivery of our Children’s Services Transformational Programme. As a Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting projects that enhance the services provided to children and young people across Barnsley. This role offers a fast-paced and sensitive working environment, with opportunities to contribute to various projects within Education, Early Start, Prevention service areas, and Children’s Social Care.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist with project management, coordinating resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensure projects are effectively planned and managed within a formal programme and project management framework.
  • Provide advice and guidance on projects, considering the complex requirements of people-related issues.
  • Support the maintenance of project risk registers and assist in resolving issues to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist in performance management and data analysis to promote quality practice and continuous service improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a library of documents and information for effective project and programme management.
  • Liaise, negotiate, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Keep abreast of local and national developments to enhance projects and meet internal and external demands.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant level 2 qualification or substantial demonstrable experience in a project management environment.
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of projects to fruition and continuous service improvement.
  • Skilled in utilising formal project management methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of advising and negotiating with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and capable of producing detailed reports and presentations.
  • Knowledge of the pressures facing children’s social care or related services is advantageous.
