Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with 1 hour for lunch - this is a full-time office-based position

We are looking for someone who will not only possess the right personal qualities to join our client’s well-established team but also someone who has experience in a similar role. You will be focusing on supply-chain management, building positive relationships with all suppliers, negotiating new contracts and managing imports.Duties of the Senior Buyer:
- Attending supplier review meetings via Microsoft Teams
- Carrying out supplier visits and ensuring positive relationships are being built upon - you will have use of the company pool car
- Being actively involved in the Continual Improvement Programme
- Negotiating new contracts and price increases
- Implementing supplier rebate agreements
- Managing departmental KPIs and reporting directly to the MD
- Dealing with far-East and European Shipping and delivery schedules
- Maintaining stock levels
- Creating the daily stock shortage report
- Processing Purchase Orders
- Managing order confirmations
- Updating Purchase Order dates on the inhouse system
- Checking delivery supplier notes and matching to invoices
- Managing supplier order books
- Dealing with purchase order and invoice queries
- Managing unconfirmed/late orders and overseeing supplier on-time delivery
- Sending supplier requests for quotations
- Managing key supplier consignment stock
- Looking at new suppliers and undertaking re-sourcing projects
- Working on cost-down initiatives
- Managing imports and freight companies
To fulfil the role of Senior Buyer role you must:
- Have experience in procurement and supply chain, ideally from the manufacturing or engineering sectors
- Be confident and enjoy dealing with suppliers over the phone
- Have strong relationship building skills
- Have good attention to detail
- Have experience in using procurement systems
Additional attributes which would be advantageous to fulfil the role of Senior Buyer:
- Ideally CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) trained
- Wide-ranging international procurement experience in particular with the Far-East including dealing with freight companies
- A good understanding of incoterms
- Ideally experienced in reading and understanding drawings
