We're looking for a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading engineering client in Barnsley, specialising in MEICA solutions for major UK infrastructure projects. Our client has been involved in several high-profile and exciting projects, so this is an opportunity you won't want to miss out on!In this role, you'll be responsible for commercial administration, assisting with project and payment cycles, and supporting Project Managers daily. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience with the potential for long-term career development and progression.What in it for you?• Competitive salary• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays • Bonus scheme• Private healthcare • Company pension • Group life insurance (death in service) • Childcare voucher scheme• EV scheme• Cycle to work scheme• Training & development opportunities What you'll do• Assist in contract reviews, risk assessments, and commercial qualifications, focusing on NEC contracts, ensuring seamless contract management from the start.• Provide commercial support, including managing cost reconciliations, project reporting, subcontract contracts, and payment/variation processes, driving project efficiency and financial success.• Proactively generate up-to-date financial forecasts, applications, and invoices, enhancing the company's ability to manage and optimise its financial position.• Work closely with project managers to ensure on-time, on-budget contract delivery while minimising risks and maximising client satisfaction.• Oversee the completion certification and retention release process, ensuring smooth project close-outs and protecting company interests.• Continuously follow company procedures, identify areas for improvement, and take on additional responsibilities to enhance team success and overall project outcomes.What you'll need• A minimum of 2 years' experience in Quantity Surveying, contract review, and commercial management. • Knowledge of NEC form of contract.• Understanding of project costing IT systems & Microsoft Office.
