We are looking for warm, caring individuals to join our team at Westmeads, our extra care service in Royston, Barnsley. This role allows older people to maintain their wellbeing and lead active, independent lives. We offer both full-time and part-time positions, with flexible additional hours available.
Your rewarding role will include:
-Providing respectful, dignified personal care and emotional support to people according to their needs and preferences
-Preparing meals and refreshments and supporting people with nutrition & hydration
-Assisting with household and everyday living tasks, involving people as fully as possible to maintain their independence
-Supporting people to take medication and administering medication as needed
-Enabling people to take part in activities within the scheme and to enjoy relationships with others
-Supporting residents to maximize their health & wellbeing, independence and quality of life
-Responding to changing needs and emergencies and supporting people to live safely
You’ll work closely with each person supported, their families, health professionals, and housing officers to deliver a coordinated service that meets their desired outcomes. We offer a variety of shift patterns, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and waking nights, and expect flexibility to meet the service’s needs.
While experience in providing care and support is desirable, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. However, you must be compassionate, respectful, and able to work reliably and accountably with a strong duty of care to the people we support. You should demonstrate a reasonable standard of verbal and written English to contribute effectively to recording systems.
Reliability, vigilance, and responsiveness to emergencies and urgent needs are crucial. Additionally, you must be capable of carrying out the physical demands of the role, including supporting people with moving and positioning.
