We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker/Crisis Recovery Worker to join our client in Barnsley S70 area.

In this role, you will provide safe and effective management of our client Community Matters Services, ensuring high-quality service delivery to clients in need of mental health support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver emotional support, advice, and guidance through face-to-face, telephone, and video interactions.
  • Assess situations to determine risk and the needs of individuals accessing support.
  • Make informed decisions under pressure while maintaining clear communication with clients.
  • Accurately record new contacts and details of visits and calls using relevant electronic systems.
  • Work in alignment with performance targets and contractual requirements, providing data and case studies as requested.
  • Participate in individual risk assessments and reviews, developing appropriate action or safety plans to meet client needs.
  • Encourage clients to recognize, understand, and manage factors affecting their mental wellbeing and physical health.
  • Collaborate with partners and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for individuals.
  • Share information and support colleagues as part of a cohesive team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with external stakeholders as necessary.
  • Gather relevant literature and resources from internal teams and external agencies to assist in support conversations.
  • Engage in training and mentoring for new staff members.
  • Attend all relevant meetings and supervision sessions to enhance team performance.
  • Identify personal training and development needs proactively.
  • Involve clients and their informal support networks in service planning, delivery, and review processes.
  • Work on a rota system to ensure service availability 365 days a year, or as specified by area contracts.
  • Be available for contact outside of shifts to address any rota issues that may arise (as a last resort).
  • Promote a positive image of Mental Health Matters and mental health issues within the community.
  • Engage with community events, meetings, forums, and local organizations to raise awareness of our services.
  • Contribute positively to service improvement by offering suggestions and feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in mental health support or crisis intervention is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work under pressure.
