Reed Education is seeking both part-time and full-time Teaching Assistants for special educational needs (SEN) schools in the Barnsley area, starting as soon as possible.

The schools are dedicated to creating the best possible learning environment for all students, regardless of their additional educational needs.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Support: Work within small groups of learners, providing support throughout lessons.
  • Academic Assistance: Help each learner with their academic progress, whether re-engaging them after they go off-task or assisting with problem-solving.
  • Behavior Management: Support the class teacher in maintaining and controlling pupil behaviour, enforcing the behavioral discipline system when necessary.
  • Communication: Liaise with Managers/Behaviour Managers regarding pupil behaviours and support any serious incidents.
  • Organisation: Ensure all group work is completed, filed, and organised for the next lesson to track pupil progress and engagement.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Encouraging and Enthusiastic: A positive attitude towards supporting learners.
  • Experience: Previous experience supporting learners with ASD, Down Syndrome, and non-verbal communication.
  • Behaviour Management: Ability to implement behavior management strategies and support students in crisis.
  • Specialised Experience: Previous experience working with SEMH/SEN students and managing challenging behaviour.
