Empowering Learning are a market leading education recruitment company. We are working in partnership with a nurturing, forward thinking, and welcoming learning provision in Barnsley who specialise in catering to the needs of young people with SEMH challenges.

We are recruiting for Learning Support Assistants to work with individuals and groups across the Primary and Secondary Age ranges. You will have a calm, caring, and therapeutic approach to dealing with behaviours that challenge. You will be engaging and a good role model for the young people you will be working alongside.

Working together is key in this provision and we look for passionate support assistants and teaching assistants who have experience in dealing with Social and emotional mental health, de-escalating crisis behaviours, and most importantly maintain a safe and soothing environment.

The job:
* The school is looking for someone who is passionate about inclusion and providing additional support, to provide the very best opportunity for allocated students.
* You will work with the subject specialist teachers who will provide their expertise in supporting you with the subject matter to enable you to deliver engaging learning support.
* To provide specialist subject expertise to assist students, completing reports and providing feedback on student progress as appropriate.

The successful candidate will:
* Have experience working with children of a Secondary age in a Learning Support environment.
* Have the confidence and ability to challenge negative behaviours and re-focus learning engagement.
* Have an understanding of SEND and provide a calm and nurturing learning environment.
* Have experience of supporting children with SEMH challenges.
