About the Role:

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a friendly and motivated Year 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Barnsley. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support the class teachers within Year 2, in addition to providing SEN Teaching Assistant support in the nurture area of school, working closely with students with SEMH.

The role is a full-time position from Monday to Friday each week. The hours will be 8.30am-3.30pm each day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Planning and Delivery: Work closely with teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Support Pupils: Provide tailored support to individual pupils or small groups with SEN/SEMH
  • Classroom Management: Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to continually improve your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
      • Experience working in a primary school or young people setting.
      • Prior experience working with students with SEN/SEMH
      • Strong understanding of the KS1 national curriculum.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desirable:
      • Additional qualifications or training relevant to primary education.
      • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
      • Experience in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
