SEMH Learning Mentor

Veritas are currently working with one of our partner schools in Barnsley, to help them find a specialist SEMH Learning mentor to support them with their social, emotional and mental health challenges. In this role you will provide more 1:1 targeted intervention for pupils to help them with the day to day emotional challenges they face.

The role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions to support pupils in our partner school.
  • Help develop and deliver behavioural support plans tailored to each students' individual needs.
  • Collaborate with the SENDCO and other teaching staff to create plans to improve classroom behaviour and make it a positive and engaging earning environment for all.
  • Help students coping mechanisms and resilience to help them cope with the SEMH.
  • Monitor the pupils progress consistently and adapt their interventions based on your assessments.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with SEMH students and confident in dealing with difficult behaviour
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques, and de-escalation strategies
  • Ability to build strong trust and rapport with pupils to encourage positive changed to their behaviour
  • Teach Team Training.
