We are actively seeking to engage a shipping & freight professionals for an exciting new opportunity as an Shipping Manager Controller working on a hybrid basis in Barnsley, South Yorkshire!

Client Details

Our client is a world-leading in-house retail and e-commerce business who turnover in excess of 250m+ with a 9% YoY growth! The business import retailed finished goods across the world through a mixture of sea, air and road freight. These goods are carried by third party carriers across various INCOTerms.

Description

As an Shipping Manager you will be employed at the Barnsley, South Yorkshire Head Office and Report into the on-site Shipping Director. Dependent on your experience you could be managing a small team of 2x Co-ordinator, mixing a commercial & operational workload. You will work a mixture of office and home working. You will also be responsible for the following areas:

  • Coordination of all sea, air & road import and import logistics and monitoring process
  • To manage the freight operation from receipt of customer bookings and arranging collections to booking cargo with carriers.
  • Provide analysis of freight carriers across a network of around 200 providers, based on cost, pricing and service levels.
  • To request and gather quotations from suppliers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Managing customs entries from USA, EU and the rest of the world, implementing procedures for inbound/outbound shipping.
  • Liaising with the company's in-house department/s regarding incoming shipments in order to apply for customs entry in good time.
  • Provide knowledge of customs clearance for specific variations on company's imports from the Far East and the rest of the world (RoW).
  • Liaising with buying and merchandising to plan shipments in line with the critical path.

Profile

The successful Shipping Manager will have a large background in either road, sea or air freight operations over the last 3+ years and ideally come from a mixture of an operational / commercial background.

  • 3+ years experience in International Shipping or Freight.
  • Experienced with air, sea or road freight import.
  • Commutable to Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
  • Experienced with planning, pricing, quoting different methods of shipping.
  • Experienced with customs and in-house customs entries.
  • Commercial, as well as operational, acumen.
