Boden Group deliver facilities maintenance services, project construction and refurbishment works to the Ministry of Defence and commercial clients at multiple sites in the South West and South East.
Join our team as a Construction/Lead Estimator, where you'll be at the forefront of driving success in our projects.
This role can be based at one of our offices in Barnstaple, Tiverton, or Amesbury, with an element of travel required.

Main duties of the role:
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare cost estimates.
- Prepare and submit detailed tenders within deadlines.
- Source and obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Evaluate labour, material, and time requirements to calculate total project cost.
- Identify potential risks in tenders and projects and propose mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with project managers, surveyors, and the commercial team.
- Liaise with clients to clarify tender requirements and negotiate contract terms.
- Stay updated with market trends, pricing, and construction methods.
- Contribute to the development of tools and processes to improve estimating accuracy.
- Allocate workload effectively across the team to meet deadlines.
- Develop and implement estimating strategies to improve accuracy and competitiveness.
- Support the Commercial Manager in aligning estimating processes with business goals.
- Ensure all estimates are thorough, accurate, and meet company standards.
- Implement and maintain robust estimating procedures and systems.
- Act as the primary point of contact for major clients during the tender process.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to forecast future opportunities and resource needs.
- Provide regular updates on tender performance, success rates, and market conditions.
- Analyse past project performance to inform future estimates
Required Skills and Abilities:
Essential:
- Proven experience (3+ years) as an Estimator, preferably within the construction industry and with exposure to commercial and MOD contracts - familiarity with MOD procurement processes and contract frameworks is advantageous.
- Proficient in using industry-standard estimation software and tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with construction contracts, legislation, and industry standards.
