Acorn by Synergie are seeking an Internal Accountant / Finance Manager to support the Managing Partner in overseeing the financial and operational aspects of a growing accountancy practice

This role is ideal for a qualified or part-qualified accountant looking for a hands-on finance role with room for development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the firm's internal accounting, including bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial performance reports.
  • Manage profitability analysis, cost control, and financial efficiency within the firm.
  • Ensure VAT returns, tax filings, and financial compliance are completed on time.
  • Handle billing, work-in-progress (WIP) monitoring, and credit control, ensuring timely payment and invoicing.
  • Assist the Managing Partner in financial planning and decision-making with accurate reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Assist in ensuring efficient financial processes and controls are in place within the firm.
  • Assist with ensuring that the practice remains compliant with regulatory and professional standards (ICAEW, HMRC, etc.).
  • Oversee payroll processing, pensions, and employee expense claims.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, IT services, and office administration support where necessary

Requirements:

  • AAT Level 4 / ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified or part-qualified (or qualified by experience).
  • Strong experience in internal accounting, finance, or practice management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage financial processes efficiently.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
