We are recruiting a Parish Secretary for the Parish of Barnstaple reporting to the Parish Priest

The purpose of the role is to manage the administrative and secretarial support to ensure the smooth running of the Parish and to enable the Parish Priest to carry out his Diocesan responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include welcoming visitors and handling inquiries with discretion, sorting correspondence, and drafting routine communications. The role also entails producing church-related publications, maintaining an up-to-date parish database, and coordinating events, rotas, and parish committees. Additionally, the role includes maintaining parish inventory, overseeing supplies, managing repairs and maintenance for church and presbytery facilities, handling hall bookings, and keeping church notice-boards current.

The post holder will be given scope to develop the role, review essential processes and improve them where necessary to ensure the effective provision of support for Parish activities.

If you are competent in the use of Microsoft Office systems such as Word and Outlook, willing to learn new programmes including MS Teams, possess excellent organisational skills and have the ability to act as a key representative for the Plymouth Diocesan Trust we would love to hear from you!

Hours: 16 hours per week over 4 weekday mornings to include Friday.
