Acorn by Synergie are recruiting for a Manufacturing Facilities Manager on a part time basis to join a busy team based in Barnstaple.

As the Manufacturing Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation, and maintenance, of the company's manufacturing facility, as well as the health and safety of all persons on site.

This includes ensuring that the building, equipment, and production environment meet operational, health & safety, and environmental standards

Job Duties:

  • Ensure that facility maintenance is carried out to a high standard, including HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and building structure.
  • Plan and oversee repairs and upgrades to manufacturing equipment and infrastructure, in collaboration with the Health and Safety Officer to ensure safety compliance.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance schedules to ensure operational efficiency and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Manage contractors and service providers for specialised repairs, coordinating with the Health and Safety Officer to ensure all third-party work meets safety standards.
  • Introduce and oversee energy-saving initiatives to reduce costs.
  • Work closely with the Health and Safety Officer to ensure facilities align with health and safety policies and regulations.
  • Take ownership of operational aspects of safety, including maintaining physical safety infrastructure (e.g., fire exits, alarms, and emergency lighting) and ensuring they are functional and compliant.
  • Oversee the maintenance, efficiency, and availability of manufacturing equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Coordinate with the Health and Safety Officer to ensure machinery adheres to safety standards, including emergency stops, guarding, and dust extraction.

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing facilities management role with a strong focus on operational efficiency, safety compliance, and sustainability.
  • Experience in ensuring and documenting regulatory compliance, particularly in collaboration with health and safety teams.
  • NEBOSH Diploma and ideally an IWFM level 4 qualification, preferably gained or being pursued in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience managing HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, with an understanding of the safety aspects associated with each system.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
