Based in Barnstaple, North Devon

We are a registered charity providing affordable homes and delivering quality services to our communities across North Devon and we are committed to our vision of ‘creating communities where people want to live’. As well as our affordable homes provision, we also build homes for outright sale through our commercial subsidiary. As part of our continuous improvement plans, an exciting new opportunity has arisen within our Executive department.

Working with and reporting to the Finance Director, you will manage the Group’s governance arrangements, ensuring that robust policies, procedures and controls are in place. As the appointed Company Secretary for all companies within the Group, you will be responsible for delivering expert advice and guidance on secretariat matters to the Board and Executive Team, ensuring a high-quality and confidential service at all times.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for the Group’s Assurance Framework with a key focus on risk management, developing systems and approaches as necessary, to include reporting to Board.

We’ll be looking for you to develop, maintain and implement a data governance framework that is embedded within the internal control framework and used to drive data quality. You will be a key point of contact for data protection queries, providing support and guidance to the Data Protection Officer on Data Protection and GDPR legislation, helping to sustain and embed a culture of robust data protection and information security.

You will need to be qualified to degree level or possess equivalent relevant experience at a senior level in an appropriate discipline.

The role demands the ability to deliver an effective customer driven service, specially building and sustaining strong working relationships with Board Members, key partners and stakeholders as well as colleagues across the Group.
