- Supervision & Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a bespoke team of Production Welders, driving productivity and ensuring work is completed to high standards.
- Actively participate in the production process, working alongside your team to meet targets and deadlines.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging continuous improvement and development.
- Work Scheduling & Planning:
- Collaborate with other supervisors to effectively schedule and coordinate work within the welding section.
- Plan and allocate resources, including materials and personnel, to ensure smooth and efficient production operations.
- Adapt to changing production needs by adjusting schedules and workflows as required.
- Quality Assurance:
- Maintain strict quality control measures, ensuring that all welding work meets the required standards for products such as shop fittings, campervan conversions, and office installations.
- Implement quality assurance practices to minimize errors and ensure consistency across all production batches.
- Technical Support & Process Improvement:
- Provide technical guidance and support to the welding team, particularly in TIG and MIG welding of thin sheet mild steel and stainless steel.
- Contribute to the improvement of products and production processes by offering insights and recommendations based on your extensive experience.
- Stay informed of the latest welding technologies and techniques, integrating them into the production process as appropriate.
- Consumables & Equipment Management:
- Manage and oversee the use of consumables, ensuring that all necessary materials are available and used efficiently.
- Ensure that all welding equipment is well-maintained and in proper working order, coordinating repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of welding experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of TIG and MIG welding, preferably in batch production of thin sheet mild steel and stainless steel.
- Skills:
- Desirable: leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
- Strong technical proficiency in welding processes, with a deep understanding of quality standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting various types of technical drawings; knowledge of CAD is a bonus.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage schedules and resources effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
